Akropolis
Witness. Question. Ache. The first chapter of a diasporic odyssey begins. National Dance
Awards 2025 nominee Kennedy Junior Muntanga is an emerging force in UK dance theatre,
fusing fierce physicality, dynamic theatricality, and bold storytelling rooted in the African
diaspora. Akropolis I is the first part of a striking new trilogy exploring fractured identity,
intergenerational legacy, and diasporic memory.
Performed as a solo, the piece features four distinct characters—the Hare, the Lion, Eva, and
the Commander, each serving as a vessel for Muntanga’s exploration of power, survival, and
belonging in post-colonial Western contexts.
