RITO
is an artistic installation born from a syncretic vision of dance and contemporary art. Drawing from ancient offerings to the gods, particularly in Classical Greece and the Mixtec culture, and the influence of 20th-century dance avant-gardes on mythology, this piece becomes a fusion of dance and sculpture, taking place within the same space and time as a unified, immersive device. Dance: ephemeral, organic, elusive, alive. Sculpture: material, ritualistic, circular, symbolic, enclosing, revealing, and yet shielding the dance from being touched, altered, or harmed. From this work, SuicaFilms, Pepe Andreu, and Rafa Molés created the Screendance short Rito, The Celebration of the Myth, which has received awards in several festivals:
-
First Prize, DanzaTTack International Screendance Competition, Spain
-
In Shadow Lisbon Screendance Festival, Portugal
