Luiza Braz Batista is a brazilian choreographer, curator, producer, director and performer. Born 1989 in Vitória (BR), Luiza began her career dancing with "Grupo Primeiro Ato" in Belo Horizonte and in 2009 completed her master’s degree in Dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Since 2008, she has been a guest dancer with "Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch" . She had the honor of working directly with Pina Bausch from 2008 to 2009 and, since 2024, has been working as a rehearsal director for the "Pina Bausch Foundation" . 2015 - 2018, Luiza danced with Susanne Linke’s company at Theater Trier and from 2018 to 2022, she worked as an actress, choreographer and director in the Acting Ensemble of Theater Trier. Currently, Luiza works as a freelance artist. Her work is primarily connected to themes of identity, memory and ancestry. Luiza develops her own artistic projects and collaborates with artists such as Moya Michael, Emanuel Gat, Hannes Langolf and Suely Machado. In 2024, Luiza curated the first edition of the "ReConexão Africanidades" Festival in Congonhas, Brazil and Since 2026, she has been the Head of Production and Coordinator of the "Movement Art International Dance Festival".
